Appellate Practice
Panther Law Group handles appeals and post-judgment practice in Florida's District Courts of Appeal and the federal appellate courts, both in matters the firm tried and in matters referred by trial counsel after judgment.
What we handle
- Direct appeals in the District Courts of Appeal
- Appeals to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals
- Certiorari and other extraordinary writs
- Non-final and interlocutory appeals
- Motions for new trial and for judgment notwithstanding the verdict
- Stays, supersedeas bonds, and enforcement pending appeal
- Preservation of error and jury instruction work at trial
- Amicus briefing
How we work the case
We begin with the record and the standard of review, in that order. The standard determines how much of an appeal is realistically available, and it is what parties most often misjudge. You get a direct answer on the strength of an appeal before briefing begins, including when the answer is that it should not be taken.
